Geek Culture Events presents Asia-Pacific’s First Ever Riftbound Showdown Event!
 

Join us in Auckland Card Show on the 15th-16th August for the Auckland 10K Showdown where players will be competing for:

  • $10,000 in cash prizing

  • Plated Metal Legends for Best-of finishers

  • Invites to future Regional Championships

  • Competitor Badges to future Regional Qualifier Events.

Additionally, all players will also receive a Jayce, Man of Progress promo just for participating.

Players will earn Prize Wall Tickets each round, which can be redeemed for a range of rewards including booster prizing, accessories and promos.

This is the first and only event of its kind this season across the Asia-Pacific region - you won’t want to miss it! Side Events will be running throughout the weekend for players looking to continue battling.

Entry Fee: $60 add on to a weekend show ticket

 

 

Showdown Prizing

$10,000 Cash Prize Pool

Standard Plated Legends will be awarded to Best-Of finishers featuring Legends from the three most recent sets.

1st Place

  • $3,500 Cash

  • Champion Trophy

  • Invite to a Future Regional Championship

  • Standard Competitor Badge for a Future Regional Qualifier Event

2nd Place

  • $2,500 Cash

  • Standard Competitor Badge for a Future Regional Qualifier Event

3rd-4th Place

  • $1,000 Cash

  • Standard Competitor Badge for a Future Regional Qualifier Event

5th-8th Place

  • $500 Cash

Attendance Bonus Prizing

If attendance reaches 256 players or more:

  • An additional Regional Championship Invite will be awarded to the 2nd Place finisher.

  • Standard Competitor Badges for Future Regional Qualifier Events will also be awarded to 5th-8th Place finishers.

Main Event Prize Wall Tickets

All players earn:

  • 10 Prize Wall Tickets per Match Win

  • 5 Prize Wall Tickets per Match Loss or Draw

 

 

Tournament Structure

Saturday April 4th (Day 1)

  • 7 Swiss rounds

  • Cut to day 2 for the higher of:
     

    • Top 64

    • X-2 or better
       

Sunday April 5th (Day 2)

  • 5 rounds

  • Cut to Untimed Top 8 Playoff

Side Events

 

8-Player On-Demand Single Elimination

Entry Fee: $20

All players receive:

  • 10 Prize Wall Tickets on entry

  • An additional 10 Prize Wall Tickets per Match Win

4-Player Free-for-All

Entry Fee: $20

All players receive:

  • 10 Prize Wall Tickets on entry

Additional rewards:

  • Winner receives an additional 10 Prize Wall Tickets

  • Winner nominates one "Most Honourable" player to receive an additional 10 Prize Wall Tickets

2v2 Magma Chamber (Best-of-One)

Special Rules:

  • Cards that affect "friendly" units affect both you and your teammate.

  • Players may play spells during their teammate's turn.

  • Turn order alternates between teams.

  • Score limit is 11.

  • Three battlefields are in play.

These events will begin as soon as enough players register, allowing you to jump in at any time throughout the weekend.

 

Sunday Bounce Back Event

Entry Fee: $50
Start Time: 10am
6 Swiss Rounds

  • 6 WIns: 200 Prize Wall Tickets

  • 5 WIns: 100 Prize Wall Tickets

  • 4 WIns: 50 Prize Wall Tickets

  • All Other Players: 25 Prize Wall Tickets

We highly encourage all prospective judges to purchase a ticket for the Open first and you have the option of refunding the ticket if you are chosen as a judge.
 

REGISTRATION POLICIES:

By registering and purchasing an event ticket to our event, you agree not to resell your ticket to the event. Please note: Tickets are NOT transferable and will be tied to your name and email address. Refunds will be processed at the sole discretion of Geek Culture Events.

By purchasing an entry to either event paths you understand that you are providing your consent to be in any potential photographs, videos, livestreams, etc taken by Geek Culture, events staff, or other content creators at the event while you are in the main event area.
